Well here is a finished quilt using a recycled duvet top for my Granddaughter Somer who turned 9 this week
She is a cheerleader who has a bright orange shirt as part of her uniform so finding the panel with the orange shirt and the wording you go girl was perfect, she loves it, and that's all that really matters.
Wishful thinking

DIL King sized finished
A struggle to handle with my small machine, I did get it done, but not quilted.
Her two favourite colours being Blue /purple, the filler colour is an extremely pale violet
The back was a striped piece that was wide enough for the spread, not normally a colour her or I go for, but we both love it and I did a black edge then a black band to tie it all together. Just in time for winter here,
Looks fab on her bed

February works
Have had a tough time feeling sick, doing a few housesits where no internet, or table space to sew.
But managed to sew buttons onto the quilt for one granddaughter only need to add a few pearls here and there for accent .
Found a lovely piece of fabric (thanks to the 5 cross roads Hamilton sewing shop) for finishing the Tribal quilt for grandson will cut and applique the designs.
Am also half way through sewing a simple square quilt for DIL though it will be a super king size, mostly blues and purples, with a dash of colour thrown in there.
Here's hoping March will bring better health.

Burgundy string cushions
Well last full day at house sit, packing my sewing stuff up, finished these two earlier today.
Still playing with string pieces, had a few short ones so made squares down the middle of the string block then has these super little triangles left
So did triangles with the Burgundy bold half opposite, very happy with them. Do need to work on the closings , the bottom one I did envelope style top was regular but I need to be more disciplined in the finishing stitching....ie hand stitch :)

Cushion project No.2
This week xmas week was a quiet one for us housesitting in Tauranga. Stayed inside as the rain fell this week. Did go shopping for fabric and cushion inners for this project, and of course some extra fabric for the stash.
Using the string piecing as a base I did a few squares using this material
And the matching colourway with flowers for the backing.

So I ended up making 3 matching ones. Gotta love the way the colours "mingle" together.
Happy happy Joy joy
